If you’re having trouble calling a seller, don’t worry, there are a few common reasons why this can happen and some simple steps you can take.
🌍 1. Cross-Border Numbers
DoneDeal includes ads from both Ireland 🇮🇪 and Northern Ireland 🇬🇧.
If you’re calling across the border, you may need to add the correct country code before the number:
-
🇮🇪 Ireland → +353 (or 00353)
-
🇬🇧 Northern Ireland → +44 (or 0044)

☎️ 2. Wrong or Mistyped Number
Sometimes a seller may have accidentally entered the wrong number in their ad.
Try these steps:
-
Use the “Send Message to Seller” button in the contact section of the ad.
-
If you don’t receive a reply, report the ad — our team will contact the seller and ask them to update the number.
⚠️ 3. Potential Scam or Fake Number
If the number seems fake or doesn’t connect at all, be cautious.
This can be a sign of a scam ad.
✅ Always:
-
Avoid sharing personal or payment information over the phone.
-
Report any suspicious ads to DoneDeal immediately.
-
Review our Safety Guide before buying or selling.
Our Trust & Safety team monitors all reports and removes any fraudulent listings.
⏰ 4. It Just Rings Out or Goes to Voicemail
If the number rings out or goes to voicemail, it may simply be that the seller is busy or temporarily unavailable.
You can:
-
Try again later, or
-
Use the “Send Message to Seller” option to follow up.
Sometimes sellers forget to update their ad after selling the item — so if you don’t hear back after a few days, move on to another listing.
