Dropping Support for Older App Versions

Since we first released the DoneDeal Android and iOS apps back in April 2011 we’ve gone on to release over 100 updates and over the years the app has changed quite a bit. To make sure DoneDealers are getting the very best use of our app, we will be no longer be supporting older versions of the app.

This will only apply to people using really old versions (less than version 5.1.1 on iPhones/iPad or 5.2.0 on Android). The reason we’re doing this is because these versions are so old that they can contain a lot of bugs which makes it hard to ensure that our app works correctly on them.

Another reason is our mobile team are working hard on improving the latest version of our app which includes tons of improvements that were recommended by our fellow DoneDealers. To get the benefits from these improvements, you need to update to our latest version.

Anyone who is using a version of the app less than version 5.1.1 on iPhones/iPad or 5.2.0 on Android will notice that app has stopped working or that it has crashed. Below are screenshots of app versions that will no longer be supported.

Here’s what you can do to continue using the DoneDeal on your Android or iOS device:

For Android users:

DoneDealers who are using our app on a device that runs Android version 4.1 (Jelly Bean) will be able to download the latest version of the app by going to the Google Play Store where you can update the app.

DoneDealers who are using our app on a device that runs Android version 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or below will be unable to download newer versions of our Android app until they update the version of Android on their device. The most current version available is Android version 6.0 (Marshmallow). DoneDealers who have a device that runs on iOS 7 or above will be able to download the latest version of the app by going to the App Store where you can update the app.

DoneDealers who have a device that runs iOS 6 or below will need to update the iOS software on their iPhone or iPad before they can download the latest version of the DoneDeal iOS app. Details on how to update the iOS software on your iPhone or iPad can be found here.

If your not able to or don’t want to update your version of iOS, don’t worry! You will still be able to use our website which is optimised for both phones and tablets.
