🧠 Why This Policy Exists

This policy helps protect DoneDeal users from:

Intellectual property infringement (selling or buying fake or copied items)
Illegal or unsafe electronic devices
Malware or harmful software

We follow Irish and EU laws, including guidance from ComReg, to ensure all listings comply with safety and copyright standards.

🚫 What You Can’t Advertise

You may not advertise or sell:

Counterfeit or fake electronics, hardware, or software
Modified decoder boxes, “blocker” devices, or other items that breach broadcasting or intellectual property rights
Pre-loaded or pirated consoles
Boot disks, mod chips, game enhancers, or custom firmware that bypass copy protection
Region-unlocking tools for DVDs or games
Unlicensed or backup copies of CDs, DVDs, or games
Any software that contains viruses, spyware, or malicious code

💿 Selling CDs, DVDs, or Software

You can only list items recorded on media (CDs, DVDs, USBs, etc.) if:

You are the rights holder or have written permission from them
The product is not a copy or pirated version
The ad clearly states that the item is original and genuine

🧰 Selling Hardware (Electronics)

If selling hardware (phones, laptops, consoles, etc.):

Clearly state if the item is second-hand
Make sure your ad mentions if it’s sold “as is” or without a warranty
Never sell counterfeit or replica electronics

⚙️ Games & Consoles

You must not list:

Consoles with pre-installed or pirated games
Services that offer to modify or “chip” consoles
Devices or software that bypass a console’s security system

🛡️ Buyer & Seller Responsibilities

If you’re buying:

Check that you’re legally entitled to own or use the item.
Ask the seller questions before you buy.

If you’re selling:

Make sure you’re legally allowed to advertise and sell the item in Ireland or the UK.
Be honest about the condition and authenticity of your products.

⚖️ Enforcement

If a listing breaches this policy, DoneDeal may:

Remove the ad without notice or refund
Suspend or restrict the user’s account
Share details with law enforcement if required
